Being a Church School

Collective Worship

As The Glenvale CE Primary is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school, Collective Worship is of a broadly Christian nature and is flexible enough to match the ages, aptitudes and backgrounds of our children. In addition, our collective worship promotes our school vision and values and aims to develop the children’s love and concern for others as well as their own self-worth.  Representatives from local churches regularly attend to conduct worship.

We encourage the exploration and development of spirituality through all we do in school.

Spirituality is a personal journey, which includes seeking who we are at our deepest level and exploring how we relate to the world and those closest to us.

It involves respect for other faiths, values and feelings; learning from others and the world around us, and using imaginative and creative ways of discovering who we are.

Spirituality is specifically nurtured in the school through reflective thinking and prayer, both in the classroom and in worship, with specific areas set aside for spiritual reflection. We recognise that everyone has a unique identity and our Values feed into the spiritual development of all. Positive, supportive relationships are always being encouraged and, while we are a Christian school, the beliefs of those of other faiths and none are respected.

School Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We are children who have been created by you.

Today we have valued the best work that we have done and the best behaviour that we have shown.

We know that we are all unique and that we all have special individual talents and things which we are good at.

Help us, Lord, to show these things in the week ahead.

Amen
